DC is Irish Turf
2008.08.18
Three of the members of today's new band originally hail from Northern Ireland, so associations with the Pogues, U2, Sinéad and Snow Patrol are inevitable--but misplaced. They may share the same geography as the aforementioned, but TURFdc sounds like, well TURFdc--a bluesy-acoustic rock band with a Celtic twist. Vocalist D. Collins and guitarist/vocalist Caolaidhe Davis only began playing together a short time ago and had never met prior to crossing the big pond. However, hearing them play, one would think that they have been jamming since primary school. Collins and Davis are joined by the menagerie that is violinist/mandolin player Meghan Jost, bassist Mike Scoligio, and Bernard Turley on guitar, banjo, harmonica & piano.
